"Becoming an FDNY Firefighter is a dream come true. This is what I have wanted to do since I was young. Growing up, my dad would take me to the firehouse and I thought he was the coolest guy ever. I'm thankful for the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of my father and my grandfather," says FDNY Probationary Firefighter Hector Tyler, Jr., (R) who graduates today from the FDNY Fire Academy following in the footsteps of his father, Hector Tyler, Sr. and his grandfather, Nathaniel Tyler. Probationary Firefighter Michael Loughran III (L) is also graduating today as a third-generation FDNY member, following his father, Michael Loughran II, and his grandfather, Michael Loughran. Probationary Firefighter Loughran says, "I have been looking forward to being a part of the FDNY family for a long time. I grew up in the firehouse with my father, and my grandfather has been such a big influence and has taught me so much. I'm proud to keep the tradition going."
